Dr. Putman is an innovator in treatments for reproductive disorders. In Dallas, he pioneered the use of microsurgical techniques for procedures such as tubal ligation reversal and reproductive laser surgery.

Using minimally invasive procedures, advanced laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, he is able to treat complex endometriosis, uterine fibroids, congenital abnormalities, and tubal disease.

Dr. Putman earned his M.D. at the Medical College of Georgia where he was greatly influenced and encouraged by Dr. Robert Greenblatt, a world renowned fertility expert. He came to Dallas and trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor University Medical Center. In Dallas, Dr. Putman pioneered the application of microsurgical techniques for reproductive procedures such as tubal ligation reversal, reproductive laser surgery, and advanced techniques in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.

Dr. Putman holds four international patents for inventing new robotic surgical instruments and is actively developing new instrumentation for improving pregnancy rates with in vitro fertilization.

Well- known in the Dallas community, Dr. Putman is an expert resource to television and radio news and is a frequent lecturer on state-of-the-art reproductive medicine therapies to both medical and patient groups. He directed the creation of an educational video library for the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, which soon became the model for successful application of video as a medical teaching medium. He has authored papers in medical journals, written editorials, produced medical teaching videos and is active in teaching resident physicians reproductive medicine.

As a member of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine legislative committee, he advised the Texas State Legislature regarding improved insurance coverage for assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization.

Dr. Putman has been active in many medical societies, serving as an associate director for the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, as well as society development chairman, legislative committee member, and currently is the chairman of the video program for the ASRM annual meetings. He has served as vice-president of the Southwestern Gynecologic Assembly, secretary and president for the Dallas-Ft. Worth Ob/Gyn Society, scientific program director and president for the Continental Gynecologic Society. He is also a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, a member of the AMA, Texas Medical Society, Dallas County Medical Society, Texas Ob/Gyn Society, American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy (AAGL), Society of Assisted Reproductive Technologists (SART), charter member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons (SRS), has AAGL Certification in advanced endoscopic surgery and American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM) certification in gynecologic ultrasound.

Dr. Putman has served on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Zoological Society as past chairman of the Medical Support Committee and is the reproductive consultant for primates at the Dallas Zoo.

He is currently an Attending Physician on staff at Baylor University Medical Center and Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine. He is a clinical associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas at Southwestern.
